The Moon Ring, the last of the Great War Rings of Midnight

Both Apple and Blackberry versions have now been approved… the War of the Solstice is truly nearly upon us. Available in both stores on The Winter Solstice, Midwinter’s Day, 21st Dec 2012.

Over the next week I will be working on the Blackberry10 version ( to be ready at launch ), and the Android version. Hopefully the Android version may also hit Google Play store… something to aim for.

  1. Exciting stuff! Send a notification to Toucharcade, they have covered the game before and are by far the most influential media outlet about Appstore games.

  2. Wonderful news Chris. The Icefear is utterly mild. 😉

After the releases (android for me), can we continue to bug you for updates and possibly enhancements ?

  3. Well done, I’m pleased to have played a small part in seeing some of the early versions and I’ll be picking it up and recommending it to others. This version is very faithful to the original; and I think the smoother-but-same graphics will be a hit with new and old gamers alike (alhough I would still love to see a ‘remastered’ version with overhauled graphics!)

  4. Great effort Chris, looking forward to it. Well done on hitting the Winter Solstice too. Will be sharing the news to all. Good article on Mike in this month’s Retro Gamer as well.

  5. Any likelihood that the Android version will be available before Christmas? I’d love to sit down and play this by the fire. With port. And some rum.

    And snacks.

  6. May we assume the android version will have the ability to scale smoothly with the available display resolution ? For example, 1280 x 720 / 1920 x 1080 / 800 x 480 etc. giving a full screen display instead of a letterboxed one ?

  7. I can’t guaranty an Android version by the Solstice – testing is the issue… but I’m working on it.

It will hopefully support full resolution rather than letterbox, but I may have to run some at letterbox initially if there are any issues with the support of that resolution. I would rather do that than not release. There are just so many resolutions that need to be checked.

    • The joys of multiple resolutions and devices. No worries if it misses Christmas – I would rather you had a good time than work crunch hours to get the game ready.

Feel free to drop me a line if you want me to do some testing on my Nexus 7, though you may already have that covered.

  8. This will be a great Christmas present to myself and a suitable reminder of the genius of Mike Singleton.

  10. Serendipity is an amazing thing. I was chatting with an iPad crazy colleague today about our favourite games from the 80s and he’d never heard of LoM, so I googled and found this site. Very sad to read that Mike had passed on and very grateful for all those hours I had as a 12yo.

I will buy the app, and having been excited about the imminent release of Baldur’s Gate on the iPad, I’m now even more excited about LoM.

The Hobbit, Baldur’s Gate and now LoM, a great end to 2012!

    Thanks in anticipation.
